Housing Market Improving

Prices may not be shooting up, but homes are once again selling at a rapid clip in many markets, including Indianapolis.  Our office has seen several situations wherein homes sell within days of initial listing and even addressed multiple offers.

Nationally, February existing-home sales slipped 0.9% to 4.59 million in February from 4.63 million in January, but were 8.8% higher than the 4.22 million sold at the same time last year. The national median existing-home price in February was $156,000, up 0.3% from February 2011.

Locally and within our office we are seeing similar trends. According to the Indianapolis Business Journal's recent article, home building permits rose 40% in February 2012 when comparing to the same month last year.  The article also suggests that this increase will continue throughout 2012.  In our office, when reviewing the first quarter of 2012 to that of 2011 our office has seen an increase, both in transactions and in sold volume, by nearly 20%.
