Weekend Roundup: August 1 - 3

It’s that time of year again; The Indiana State Fair is here! The Indiana State Fair is a long standing tradition and is a fun tradition. The Indiana State Fair continues to exemplify the very best in Indiana from the grand 4-H competition to the beautiful draft horse shows to daily concerts on stages throughout the grounds. The fair starts this Friday!
 
The 7th Annual Mass Ave Criterium & Cycling Festival will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014. The MAC is one of Indy’s most exciting sporting events held in the beautiful and hip downtown Cultural District of Mass Avenue.
 
The extremely talented Peter Frampton will be playing this Sunday at 7pm at the Palladium. Peter Frampton remains one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history. His fifth solo album, the electrifying Frampton Comes Alive!, is one of the top-selling live records of all time. This is a once in a lifetime show!

Weekend Roundup: July 25 - 27



                It’s Friday already! Here are some tips on what to do this weekend. This weekend is the Brickyard Super Weekend. Friday is the United SportsCar Championship Race Day and gates open at 8a.m. On Saturday is NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Day, gates open up at 7 a.m. Sunday is the last day with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Day. The gates open at 6a.m.

                 Along with Brickyards Super Weekend races, they are also hosting Bickfest Music Festival. Saturday ACM Vocal Group of the Year The Band Perry and ACM New Artist of the Year Justin Moore will be performing following the NASCAR Nationwide Series Indiana 250 race. On Sunday, after the races Brantley Gilbert, Drake White and more will be performing. Get your tickets now!


                There’s not just racing going on this weekend. Be sure to check out Cirque Du Soleil’s new show, Varekai. The show runs through the whole weekend at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. This show is sure to amaze.

Weekend Roundup: July 11-13

                The sun is shining this weekend so go out and enjoy it! On Friday head out to the Indianapolis Zoo for a fun concert for the kids. The Zoolapalooza Concert begins at 5:30 and ends at 8:30. It features songs everyone knows and loves. The concert is held in the middle of the Zoo next to the Café on the Commons.


                On Saturday bike on down to University Park for the largest USA cycling sanctioned race in the state of Indiana.  Race day registration starts at 8:00 and the race begins at 9:00a.m.  The Indy Crit draws over 500 racers from across the Midwest so be sure to check it out!


                How about a fun outdoor concert? Michael Franti and Spearhead will be playing at the FarmBureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park this Sunday. The concert starts at 5:30 and ends at 10:00. Come at 3:30 for some yoga on the lawn before the concert. Yoga and music! What more could you want?



                Head to Noblesville for their 23rd annual Street Dance! This family friendly event will happen this Saturday from 5 – 11 p.m. It takes place in the historic downtown Noblesville. It opens with the Taste of Noblesville to give the dance attendees an opportunity to try all the fantastic restaurants Noblesville has to offer. There will be a DJ and dancing all night long.

                Go Check out the O’ Jays performing this Sunday at the Palladium! The show starts at 7pm. This band is an American treasure and was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Don’t miss you chance to see this amazing band live in concert!

                 Looking for a kid-friendly event? Then check out the Garfield Parks Arts Center’s Movies on the Lawn. On Saturday they will be showing Young Frankenstein at Garfield Park. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and it’s free!

Weekend Round-Up: June 20-22

                We all need a good laugh after this long work week! Head to the 700 block of North Park, The Mass Ave Arts and Theatre District, for just that. It’s the 19th annual Brew-Ha-Ha! Enjoy unlimited beer samples from over 50 of the best local and national craft breweries, live music from local bands, and food from local food vendors. The fun starts this Saturday from 3:00p.m. -7:00 p.m. This outdoor block party is sure to be a blast!

                Come get covered in paint this Saturday at the Neon Run! This 5k is no ordinary 5k. Starting at 7:00p.m. and going through the night, they will cover you in bight neon colors as you run. After the 5k is the After Dash Bash, filled with performers, music, food, drinks, and tons of Ultra Violet Backlight! Every participant becomes part of the show as they blink and glow the night away in this one of a kind 5k extravaganza.

Weekend Roundup June 13-15




After all the rain this week it’s time to get out and enjoy the weekend. Stop by the Indianapolis Zoo on Friday from 7-midnight for the Zoobilation! This party helps raise money for the Indianapolis Zoo’s newest member, the orangutans. Orangutans are going extinct and they need your help. Enjoy live music and food from all over the city to save the apes in black tie fashion.


Check out everyone’s favorite 90’s band at the Old National Centre this Saturday, The Presidents of the UnitedStates. They will be performing with Kris Orlowski and Charlie Patton’s War. I am sure they will play favorites such as Peaches!


90’s bands not your thing but still want a concert? Then Check out 99.5 WZPL’s Birthday Bash at the Fairgrounds this Friday. Performers include Jason Derulo, Austin Mahone, Icona Pop and more. The show begins at 7:00 and it is sure to be a blast!



 The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Dance Kaleidoscope and Clowes Memorial Hall present the fully-staged version of Maurice Ravel’s ballet Daphnis et Chloé. Weekend Round Up: June 6th - 8th




The week is finally over and now it is time to enjoy the sunshine! How about stopping by the Indiana Wing CAFWarbird Expo? On Saturday at the Indianapolis Metro Airport-Tom Wood Aviator Hangar to see Warbird formation flights and static display for free admission. Stay after the show for Hops-N-Props, “A celebration of the finest craft brew from the region”. There will be BBQ, beer and skydivers. 


Looking for delicious wine tasting? Then, head on down to the 15th annual Vintage Indiana Wineand Food Festival. The event is on Saturday at Military Park in downtown Indianapolis. Come enjoy award winning wine and food from all over Indiana. Leave the kids and go and have a good time.


White River State Park is host to Asian Fest 2014. It is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Asia that can be found in Central Indiana. Come be transported to Asia with cultural performances, games, and some Asian food. Admission is free and the festival goes from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 



Come and have your mind blown by Christian and Katalina in their Mind Tripping Show. The show is “a comedy with a psychological twist”. The show is at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites on Friday and Saturday starting at 8:30.  The Mind Tripping Show will be an interactive show that will include mind boggling illusions. This is a must see.




Come celebrate the release of Laura Benanti’s new CD Live at 54 Below with her show, In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention, at the Cabaret on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:00. Laura Benanti is a Tony Award winner singer and was in the recent live showing of the Sound of Music. Her show will feature amusing stories, a little self-deprecating humor and some lovely melodies. Come and see the show!



Need to get in shape? Enjoy a good bike ride? Join Mayor Greg Ballard for the 2014 Mayor’s BikeRide. Come enjoy a fun bike ride through the city. The ride starts at the city market and features Indy’s Near Northside. The Bike Ride is on Saturday. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. This is sure to be a memorable event!

Weekend Roundup: May 30-June 1








The weekend is fast approaching and here are some ideas of what to do. On Sunday, Jack Johnson will be live in concert at the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park. The concert starts at 7:30 and it is sure to be a good one.


Starting on Friday and running through Sunday is the Indy Pop Con at the Indiana Convention Center. The convention will have it all: comics, cosplay, video gaming, internet culture, entertainment, and more. Meet Kevin Eastman, the Co-creator of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. You can also get a photo with Game of Thrones star Esme Bianco who plays Ros.

How about heading to the symphony? Check out the exciting  Cirque De La Symphony? Enjoy jaw-dropping acrobatics alongside the orchestra. There are three show this weekend: Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm. The show will take place at the newly renovated Hilbert Circle Theatre. There will be dancers, jugglers, strongmen, and aerial flyers. All they need now is you!


Need a laugh? Then go on down to Old National Centre on Saturday to see Bill Maher. Bill Maher is known for his sarcastic views on politics. The show starts at 7:30 and tickets start at $24.75.


On Saturday there is a walk at the Celebration Plaza in White River State Park. The walk supports Autism Speaks, an organization that strives to bring autism awareness. There is still time to sign up for the walk or just head down and enjoy the festivities.

Are you more of a sports fan? There is an Indianapolis Indians game on Friday at 7:15, Saturday at 7:05 and Sunday at 1:35. The Indians are playing against Syracuse Chiefs at Victory Field. Also the new Indy Eleven has a game this weekend on Saturday at 7:30 against the San Antonio Scorpions at the Carroll Stadium.


Then how about a free concert at the Artsgarden? On Saturday the Athenaeum Pops Orchestra will be giving a concert at 1pm in the Artsgarden downtown. Be sure to stop by after window shopping!

Weekend Roundup: 5/23 - 5/25

It's Memorial Day Weekend, which means it is time for the Indy 500! To kick-off the weekend celebrations on Friday is Coors Light Carb Day . Sammy Hagar and Sublime will be playing. On  Saturday, Country Star, Jason Aldean, will be at the speedway performing a concert. And we can't forget race day is Sunday.



There is more to do this weekend then just the race activities. Take the kids out to see the new orangutan exhibit that is opening this Saturday at the Indianapolis zoo. You can experience up close interactions with the orangutans as well as great family photo opportunities. If you bring your kid to opening day your kid will receive a rare orangutan trading card.




Monkeys not your thing? How about some swing dancing? Swing dance lesson in the Fountain Square Theater start this weekend on Friday. The lessons start at 7:30 and will happen every Friday of the summer. After all that dancing check out the roof top dinning that opens on Friday as well. 



Need a laugh? On Saturday famous blue collar comedian Bill Engvall will be at Hilbert Circle Theater. Best known for his "Here's your sign" bit. You are sure to get a lo of laughs out of this show. There are two shows one starts at 7 and the other starts at 9:30. Grab your tickets fast!



Or, is it getting a little too hot for you? Then you should head on down to Carmel's Clay Water Park. The water park is opening this Friday. You can purchase a private cabana to relax in or try your luck on the AquaClimb.
